For the fourth Whites Boots x Stitchdown Collaboration, we took inspiration from last year's Stitchdown Patina Thunderdome. After ogling this pair from our guy Reo for many months, we worked with Whites to fashion a similar boot, in a slightly more user-friendly package.
Named after the cowboy Bill Pickett, our Pickett boots bring just enough western flair to keep things interesting, without going full "I own multiple horses." The white contrast stitching and optional tonal black toe-bug add some serious twang. Then add in the tapered unstructured toe (with nicely supported arch!) of White's 5050 last, plus sleek single-row handsewn welt/outsole stitching, and they're filled with flavors of a western boot without actually being one.
The combination of black waxed flesh quarters with a black horsehide vamp + heel counter cover is chock full of patina potential. Horween's waxed flesh is a revered leather for many reasons. Once broken in it's quite comfortable for something so serious, and its ability to show off serious wear over time, all while holding up to years of abuse. Horween's black CXL horsehide will crease tightly—especially with that toe bug, which is designed to help with exactly that—and the black over-dye will eventually fade to brown, showing off the scuffs and scrapes of day to day life with grace and rigor.
The Pickett's inspiration was a 12-inch boot, but we chopped that down to 8 inches. We felt that's a more optimal rise for day to day life—just enough height to feel fully supported, but not too much that it feels overbearing. (Also quicker to lace!) While our inspiration boot was built on White's MP last, the Pickett is built on the Spokane icon's 5050 last, which has the same toe shape but also offers classic Pacific Northwest arch support. Once you experience the comfort of a fully broken in arch-ease last, everything starts to make sense.

WHITE'S HANDSEWN STITCHDOWN is a uniquely intensive hand-making process that requires exceptional skill and a remarkable amount of time. Due to the nature of the process, and the hand-sewn rolled welt that sits atop the midsole, some variation in stitching spacing and visibility is to be expected simply as part of the nature of this product.

SIZING
White's 5050 last is a highly accommodating last that fits a very wide range of feet, with different combinations of length and width capable of fitting just about any foot.
Our standard recommendations for White's 5050 last is:
-.5 down from your Brannock size/width for a snugger fit if you don't have issues with toe-splay.
OR
-.5 down from your Brannock size + up one width, which will accommodate more toe splay (at 11D Brannock I have found that 10.5E with thick socks to be a slightly more generous and comfortable fit that I prefer, with a just bit of acceptable sacrifice made in terms of heel tightness)
